America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration Secures $50,000 for 250th Anniversary Support

Key Points

  • $50,000 approved from free cash.
  • Funds compensate for reduced private collections caused by bad weather last year.
  • Supports the 250th anniversary edition of the Thanksgiving parade.

Following the approval of July 4th funding, Town Meeting members also passed Special Town Meeting Article 4, providing $50,000 to America’s Hometown Thanksgiving Celebration. Similar to the previous article, this funding is intended to support the town's traditional parade and festivities during the 250th-anniversary year.

Pompy Delafield explained that the organization faced a financial setback last year when bad weather significantly reduced the Rotary Club’s annual collection during the parade. This loss in expected revenue made town support vital to maintaining the scale of the event. The appropriation will be drawn from free cash.

Motion: To appropriate $50,000 from free cash.
