Town Meeting members voted unanimously to appropriate $28,492 for the treatment of invasive weeds in Billington Sea under Article 36. The funding, requested via a citizens petition, will target fanwort, an invasive species that threatens the ecosystem and recreational accessibility of the pond.

Christy Young explained that Billington Sea serves as the headwater of Town Brook and warned that without treatment, the invasive growth would turn the area into a marsh. She noted the treatment uses a low concentration of Sonar—just 15 parts per billion—to maintain the health of the water body.
