Plymouth Community Trust Bylaw Recommended Despite Procedural Rebuffs
Key Points
- - Citizens petition for a new Plymouth Community Trust bylaw
- - Recommended 9-3-0 by the Advisory and Finance Committee
- - Moderator denied floor changes to the motion to stay within legal warrant scope
The proposed creation of a Plymouth Community Trust via Article 37 has moved forward with a recommendation for approval, though not without procedural friction. The article, brought via citizens petition, seeks to establish a new trust bylaw for the town.
Advisory and Finance Committee Chair Joseph Lai reported a 9-3-0 vote in favor of the bylaw. However, Town Moderator Steve Trifletti noted that he had to deny a last-minute request from the lead petitioner to change the motion after it was submitted. I had to deny that because it was not contained in the warrant... in order to make something happen with a petitioned article, it needs to be within the scope of the article,
Trifletti said.
