FinCom Rejects Serkey Petition Regarding 2003 Special Legislation in Unanimous Vote

Special Town Meeting Article 10, a citizens petition brought forward by Town Meeting Member Richard Serkey, faced strong opposition from the Advisory and Finance Committee. The petition seeks to ask the General Court for special legislation regarding the Acts of 2003, Chapter 27.
Advisory and Finance Committee Chair Joseph Lai reported that the committee was entirely against the measure. The advisory and finance committee by unanimous vote voted zero yes, 13 no and zero abstentions and advises a town meeting not approve article 10,
Lai said. Town Moderator Steve Trifletti noted that Serkey, as the petitioner, will have up to 15 minutes to present his case at the Special Town Meeting, while other speakers will be limited to three minutes.
Motion: R. Serkey made the motion for Article 10.
