Town Meeting approved a citizen petition to provide $28,492.32 for the treatment of invasive fanwort in the Billington Sea. Petitioner Christy Young explained that the pond serves as the headwater for Town Brook, and left untreated, the invasive weeds threaten the entire downstream ecosystem.

Young noted that the local association is committed to paying 55% of the total treatment costs, with the town covering the remaining 45%. The treatment is typically required every seven to eight years to prevent the pond from transitioning into a marsh. The body supported the measure unanimously, recognizing the environmental importance of the waterway.

Motion: To appropriate $28,492.32.
